Welcome to the world of timeless elegance and classic style! If you are a fashion enthusiast looking to add a touch of vintage charm to your wardrobe, you have come to the right place. Vintage Glamour is dedicated to bringing you the best finds from the 1950s and 1960s, offering a curated selection of clothing that exudes sophistication and glamour.

What is classed as vintage?

Is it that jumper you kept in your cupboard for five years, considered as vintage? Well, my peeps, the answer to this is no! The word 'Vintage' gets thrown around a bit lately, and I'm referring to clothing, accessories that are more than 40 years old. Clothing, shoes, gloves, handbags and jewelry in periods of 1940's to 1980's are generally considered vintage. There are items that may have been sitting in the back stock Storeroom and never sold (with the original swing tags attached) that are called New Old Deadstock. If you are lucky to get your hands on these type of vintage- you are truly blessed; these type of vintage pieces are out there and have never been worn, perfect condition, brand new! Oh my gosh, I'm hyperventilating already!!

If you're picturing in your mind, grandma's crotchet shawl or that floral lace, mothball number, that you remember Nan had in her closet - well, this is not the kind of vintage, I'm talking about! By the way, those items that are say 10 to 20 years or so, are really considered Retro- but if you want to consider them as vintage - kudos to you!

The items that are from 1940s and earlier would be regarded as Antique, and I really love looking at beautiful pins or brooches and other timeless pieces that reflect the elegance and glamorous time of Old Hollywood; they way women women draped luxurious fabrics, furs, sparkling costume jewelry, complete with gloves and hat.

Explore Vintage Fairs

In my experience, I found that really, you can find vintage anywhere, and sometimes, where you least expect it. Go out there and explore markets, like the Mill Markets (check out the website below, and you will soon start to gravitate towards a certain style related to an era. Looking a books or films of that era would be a great reference point that will typically showcase the style like the Mod Shift dresses of the late 1960s. Interestingly as fashion evolves, the clothing styling of the early 60s with the cinched-in, full-skirted and the crinoline, petty-coated silhouettes had then, morphed to more simple lines, embodying the modern women with less fuss from 1965 onwards.
